Remarks : teams
Renault F1 Team changes its name to Lotus Renault GP beyond the scope of an alliance between Genii Capital and Group Lotus plc. This partnership has been made possible thanks to Renault that has sent its remaining parts in the team to Genii Capital (which has sent them to Group Lotus plc) and thanks to the support of Proton, parent company of Group Lotus plc. Renault maintains its support to its former team as motor supplier and will keep on giving its name to the chassis, Lotus only appearing as sponsor title. Group Lotus plc does not consider on short notice taking over the team. On January 13th, on the occasion of the Birmingham Autosport International Motorsport Show where Lotus Renault GP presented its new colours, Eric Boullier announced that the team changed from a French licence to an English one.
Lotus Racing is from now on engaged under the name Team Lotus.
Peter Sauber received on June 23th 2010 FIA’s authorization to rename its team Sauber F1 Team in 2011
The Russian constructor Marrusia Motors takes a more or less 40%-participation of Virgin Racing’s capital. The team is engaged in the world championship under the name Marussia Virgin Racing.

Changes in the progress and the rules
The calendar includes the
Indian Grand Prix
, raising the number of Grand Prix to 20
Pirelli replaces Bridgestone as exlusive tyres supplier
The double diffusers and the "F-Duct" system are prohibited
The maximum height of the diffusers is reduced from 175 to 125mm
Following specific conditions, a driver can modify the angle of a part of the rear wing in order to make the overtaking easier. The adjustable bodywork is electronically controlled. Only the drivers who are less than one second far from each other, at set points restricted on each circuit and after the two opening race laps, can modify the angle of their rear wing of 50 mm (gain of some fifteen km/h). The system is disabled while breaking. In case of breakdown, the system is forced into “maximum lift” position for safety measures. Its use is not compulsory
Reintroduction of the KERS (as a result, the minimum weight of the cars is increased from 620 to 640kg)
The wheel tethers are doubled
Article 39.1 forbidding the team instructions is simply suppressed. But the teams will remain under the hold of article 151c, that forces them to maintain the integrity of the sport
The pit lane will be limited in width (in order to avoid that two drivers get out next to each other)
Introduction of a rule allowing the race director to shut down the pit lane during the race for safety measures (further to the intervention of an ambulance during the latest Grand Prix of Italy)
The gearboxes will have to last for five consecutive races instead of four.
